Hyderabad, Nov.25 (RAHNUMA): Alleging that the Congress government has weakened the Telangana’s education sector, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday called for a state-wide student movement to ‘counter the anarchy and failures’ of the ruling dispensation.
Addressing leaders of the party’s student wing at his residence, KTR said the golden era of educational reforms ushered in by former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao – through Gurukul institutions and residential colleges – was being ‘dismantled’ by the present government. He accused the Congress of spreading “Goebbels-style propaganda” that nothing was achieved in the last decade.
Announcing intensified protests from next month, the BRS leader directed the student wing to mobilise thousands of students across all Assembly constituencies demanding clearance of fee-reimbursement arrears. Expressing concern over ‘tragedies’ in Gurukul institutions ranging from poor-quality food to suicides, he called for renewed agitation over their conditions.
On this occasion, KTR urged every student to actively use social media to expose the Congress government’s “betrayal” on education, jobs and BC reservations. He reminded the ruling party of its promise to extend the 42% BC quota to education and employment sectors.
Calling November 29 ‘historic’ as KCR’s Deeksha Diwas that fuelled the Telangana movement, he asked the Universities and colleges to mark the occasion in a grand manner and educate youth on the sacrifices of student martyrs. “Real leaders are born from movements. Every student must fight against the anarchy of the Congress and become a warrior for Telangana”, he added.
