Telangana govt invests ₹60,000 crore in road development: Komatireddy

Hyderabad, Nov.26 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has announced that Telangana government has taken up road development works worth ₹60,000 crore across the State.

The Minister, who laid the foundation stone for the four-lane expansion of the Mahabubnagar–Nalgonda road from Nagarjunasagar X Road to Darveshipuram Ellamma Temple on Wednesday, said the project was being taken up at a cost of ₹50 crore and would include a central median and LED street lighting. He informed that the execution of works will begin within a week.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Komatireddy said steps have already been taken to address accident-prone stretches at Darveshipuram, where works worth ₹12 crore including CC roads, medians, and lighting have been completed.

He said several internal roads including the Kothapalli–Musumpalli stretch, rural roads network, and drainage systems are being improved, and that ₹450 crore has been sanctioned for AMRP canal lining to strengthen irrigation infrastructure. The Minister said major arterial roads in Nalgonda town have been upgraded with medians and lighting and bypass road works are underway to ease traffic.

The Minister criticised the previous government alleging that it failed to issue even a single ration card in ten years, while the present government has begun implementing all six guarantees including free travel for women in RTC buses, 200 units of free power, construction of ₹5 lakh Indiramma houses, Rythu Bharosa, and a bonus of ₹500 per quintal for farmers cultivating fine rice varieties. He said every village has now been allotted ration shops and added that 18 new shops have been sanctioned in his constituency.

Komatireddy also stated that the BJP has lost credibility among the people of Telangana.
