Hyderabad, Dec.16 (RAHNUMA):A major controversy has erupted following the panchayat elections in Chinnakaparathi village of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda district after ballot papers cast in favour of a sarpanch candidate were found dumped in a drainage canal.
The incident triggered serious public concern over the integrity of the electoral process. Former minister and MLA Jagadish Reddy, former Rajya Sabha member Lingaiah Yadav and former MLAs Chirumurthy Lingaiah and Kancharla Bhupal Reddy lodged complaints with higher authorities, alleging negligence and deliberate misconduct by election officials.
Acting swiftly, the District Collector ordered a detailed inquiry. After already suspending the Returning Officer, the administration took further stringent action, suspending 12 officials, including MPDO Jayalakshmi and Stage-2 officer Vijay Kumar, for violations of poll procedures. Investigations are underway to fix responsibility.
