Hyderabad, Dec.24 (RAHNUMA): The State government has taken another crucial decision with the aim of empowering rural women economically and socially.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department on Wednesday issued orders, stating that the construction of SHG Federation buildings in every village at a cost of ₹10 lakh each will serve as permanent venues for self-help groups and federations. The design has been prepared for a building on a 200-square-yard plot, with a minimum area of 552 square feet.
In a statement here, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Seethakka stated that the decision is a historic step forward in strengthening women’s self-help groups at the village level.
Seethakka said, “Rural women should not be limited to just self-help groups, but should grow into centres of self-employment and decision-making. That is why every village should have an SHG Federation building. The Congress government’s goal is to provide respect, security, and self-confidence to women,” she clarified.
The Minister said the SHG Federation buildings will be constructed in all villages in a phased manner.
