Hyderabad, Dec.29 (RAHNUMA): To ensure public safety during the New Year celebrations, both construction and debris transport vehicles will be banned inside the ORR limits under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate from 10:30 PM to 2 AM on the intervening night of December 31, 2025 and January 1, 2026. The restriction was announced by Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty.
NO RIDE REFUSAL, NO OVERCHARGING: CYBERABAD POLICE WARN CAB OPERATORS
Ahead of New Year celebrations, THE Cyberabad Traffic Police warned cab, taxi and auto-rickshaw operators against refusing rides or charging excess fares. Refusal to ply will attract penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act. Commuters can report violations via WhatsApp at 9490617346.
Besides, Cyberabad Police have cautioned bars, pubs and clubs that allowing intoxicated customers to drive from their premises will invite criminal prosecution for abetment. Establishments have been directed to arrange alternative transport and prevent drunk driving during New Year celebrations.
Special surveillance cameras have been deployed across Cyberabad to detect overspeeding, wrong-side driving, signal jumping and helmet violations. Massive drunk-and-driving checks will begin from 8 PM on December 31, the traffic police announced.
DRUNK DRIVING MAY COST PERMANENT LICENSE CANCELLATION
Cyberabad Traffic Police warned that repeat drunk-driving offenders face permanent cancellation of driving licences, besides heavy fines and jail terms. In fatal accidents caused under intoxication, cases will be booked under section 105 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) leading to arrest and imprisonment.
