
Hyderabad, Jan.5 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Polavaram-Nallamala Sagar project undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh government is contrary to the inter-state river water regulations.
Speaking to the media in an informal chat at the Assembly on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Telangana government is strongly opposing the Polavaram-Nallamala Sagar project on all platforms. He reminded that they have already written a letter to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) regarding this matter, and the board has also supported their objections.
He stated that the proposed project is being opposed not only by Telangana but also by the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy have urged senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi to present strong arguments in the Supreme Court regarding this dispute. He revealed that the state government are filing a suit petition in the case as per the court’s suggestion, and he himself will attend the hearing next Monday.
Uttam Kumar Reddy further stated that the state government will request the court to immediately issue a stay order on the project.
