Hyderabad, Jan.17 (RAHNUMA): With the election buzz gaining momentum ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation and municipality polls in Telangana, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday announced that his party will contest ‘all seats across municipal areas’ in the state.
Speaking to the media at Darussalam in Hyderabad, Owaisi said aspiring candidates have been asked to apply for AIMIM tickets and that the candidate selection process has already begun. He made it clear that there should be no confusion about AIMIM’s participation in the elections, asserting that the party would “definitely be in the fray”.
Owaisi said party leaders have been instructed to gear up for the elections, with strategies already in place as the state awaits the official notification.
Highlighting AIMIM’s recent success in Maharashtra municipal elections, Owaisi said the party registered ‘sensational victories’, establishing a strong presence in cities such as Aurangabad, Mumbai and Nagpur. He noted that 125 AIMIM corporators were elected and thanked the people of Maharashtra for their support.
Taking a swipe at rival parties, Owaisi said those branding AIMIM as a ‘B team’ should introspect. “There are many reasons for victory, but no excuses for defeat. They should explain why we won and why they lost”, he remarked.
With reservations finalized and elections imminent, Owaisi’s announcement signals the AIMIM’s intent to aggressively expand its footprint in Telangana’s urban local bodies.
