Hyderabad, Jan.19 (RAHNUMA): Mohd Amanullah Khan, Convenor, Mahatma Gandhi Telangana Auto Drivers JAC, and Inayat Ali Bagri, President, ILWF Auto Bandhu Association, have appealed to auto drivers in the twin cities to participate in a one-day Auto Bandh on January 20 and a protest dharna at Indira Park from 10 AM to 5 PM.
In a joint press statement, the leaders stated that the bandh and protest are being organised to highlight the state government’s inaction in addressing the long-pending genuine grievances of auto drivers. They demanded the withdrawal of free bus travel for women and called for the implementation of total prohibition in Telangana State.
Raising the slogan “Sharab Hatao – Telangana Bachao”, they asserted that free bus travel for women has become the root cause of the severe financial difficulties faced by auto drivers. They warned that unless this policy is withdrawn, justice to auto drivers would remain elusive.
The leaders urged all auto drivers to participate in large numbers and make the bandh and dharna a grand success to press for their legitimate demands.
