Hyderabad, Jan.22 (RAHNUMA): Redevelopment works at Secunderabad Railway Station, being taken up at a cost of Rs.714.73 crore, are progressing at a rapid pace with nearly 50% of the project completed. The works are being executed in a phased manner to enhance passenger amenities, upgrade infrastructure, and improve operational efficiency – without disrupting train services, even during the recent festival rush.
To manage traffic during the redevelopment phase, parking on the Platform No.1 side has been temporarily suspended, allowing only pick-up and drop services. On the Platform No.10 side, an ‘Access Control System’ has been introduced to prevent unauthorised parking and ensure smooth vehicular movement. Passengers are allowed free pick-up and drop for up to 15 minutes, after which overstay charges will apply to vehicles not parked in authorised parking areas.
Meanwhile, underground basement parking facilities on the Platform No.10 side have been made available for four-wheelers and two-wheelers for boarding, pick-up, drop, and parking. Clear signage, public address announcements, and display boards have been installed to guide passengers.
The parking tariff has been fixed at Rs.40 for four-wheelers, Rs.25 for two-wheelers, and Rs.5 for bicycles for the first two hours, with nominal charges thereafter.
The entire redevelopment project is scheduled for completion by December 2026, after which the station will feature world-class passenger amenities, including multi-level parking facilities and improved traffic circulation.
Rail users have been advised to use the authorised basement parking to ensure hassle-free movement within the station premises.
