SIT probe will unmask phone-tapping masterminds: Jupally

Hyderabad, Jan.24 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Excise Jupally Krishna Rao strongly condemned the undemocratic policies pursued by the previous BRS government in the phone- tapping affair.

He said the phone tapping episode is extremely wicked and the SIT investigation will reveal who the masterminds and perpetrators of this affair are, and the truth will definitely come out.

Speaking to the media at Praja Bhavan here on Saturday, Jupally Krishna Rao, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, said that political leaders are not above the law, and those who have committed wrongdoings, regardless of their party affiliation, will have to face punishment.

“In my 25 years of political life, I have seen many governments, but we have witnessed despicable political tactics like phone tapping only during the previous BRS government,” he said.

The Minister recalled that allegations of phone tapping have been rampant in Telangana since 2021, and that individuals such as former Governor Tamilisai, retired IAS officer Akunuri Murali, Eatala Rajender, and R.S. Praveen Kumar had previously expressed suspicions that they were being spied upon. He stated that such actions are a grave threat to democracy.

Jupally Krishna Rao strongly criticised the previous BRS government, stating that using systems like the police and intelligence agencies to blackmail their own party leaders, opposition leaders, and businessmen is a testament to the government’s moral degradation.

The Minister questioned why BRS working president KT Rama Rao was so worried when he was summoned for questioning by the SIT as a witness.

He mocked KTR, who had previously boasted about being ready for any investigation, saying that he was now resorting to theatrics upon receiving the notices. Jupally Krishna Rao asked why there was any need to be afraid if they had no connection to the phone tapping incident and were innocent.

“After the Congress party came to power, the government did not resort to acts of revenge. If that had been our intention, we would have sent the BRS leaders to jail a long time ago. But we respect the law.

Why KTR was so afraid just because a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC was issued, which merely asks for information as a witness,”? Jupally Krishna Rao said.
