
Hyderabad, Jan.25 (RAHNUMA): On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day Celebrations, K.L.N. Swamy, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence and Deputy Secretary to General Manager, South Central Railway, conferred with the prestigious Medal for Meritorious Service, at President level a distinguished honour recognizing his exceptional contribution to the South Central Railway (SCR) Civil Defence Organization. For the first time an officer from SCR is adjudged for the Medal of Meritorious Service at Presidents level for the Nobel service rendered in Civil Defence organisation.
Further acknowledging his outstanding service, Swamy was also honoured with the Director General’s Disc on the occasion of the 63 rd Civil Defence Raising Day – 2025, in recognition of his exemplary professional contribution and unwavering commitment to Civil Defence.
Civil Defence in Indian Railways acts as a trained volunteer force that enhances disaster preparedness, protects vital assets, and supports emergency response to ensure passenger safety and
uninterrupted rail operations.
Swamy has consistently demonstrated remarkable dedication, technical expertise, and exemplary leadership, significantly strengthening safety preparedness and operational resilience among Railway personnel across South Central Railway. Swamy has led specialized training programmes for Breakdown personnel and meticulously planned mock drills, substantially enhancing field-level readiness and inter-agency coordination. Through proactive leadership, technical acumen, and hands-on engagement, K.L.N. Swamy has significantly elevated the standards of Civil Defence across the Railway system.
