Telangana Railways get major boost as Budget allocation jumps Six-Fold

Hyderabad, Feb.2 (RAHNUMA): Telangana has witnessed unprecedented growth in railway infrastructure, driven by a sharp rise in budgetary support from the Government of India over the past decade.

The State’s average annual railway budget allocation has surged from Rs.886 crore (2009–14) to Rs.5,454 crore in 2026–27, marking a six-fold increase. Railway projects worth Rs.47,984 crore are currently under execution, covering new lines, station redevelopment and safety upgrades.

Under the “Amrit Station Scheme”, 40 stations in Telangana are being redeveloped at a cost of Rs.2,015 crore, with works already completed at Begumpet, Karimnagar, Warangal and Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba stations.

Passenger connectivity has improved with five pairs of Vande Bharat Express and three pairs of Amrit Bharat Express now operational. Since 2014, around 900 km of new tracks have been laid, while 100 per cent electrification of the railway network has been achieved.

To strengthen safety, the ‘KAVACH collision avoidance system’ is being implemented extensively across the State.
