Hyderabad, Feb.9 (RAHNUMA): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday claimed that the people of Telangana were seeking political change, and asserted that development in the state was possible only under the BJP. He said the recent Parliament and MLC election results reflected growing public support for his party.
Addressing the media, Reddy alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil key election promises, including financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 for women, unemployment allowances and increasing pensions to Rs. 4,000. He also claimed that even existing pensions were not being disbursed properly and questioned whether such a party deserved support in upcoming municipal elections.
Launching a sharp attack on the BRS, he said the party had “no future” and described it as facing internal power struggles, accusing its leadership of weakening the organisation.
The Union Minister further alleged that both Congress and BRS had mismanaged Singareni Collieries, pushing it into financial distress. He claimed the company required significant financial support and accused the state government of irregularities in tender processes and financial decisions. Reddy said he would raise the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and push for corrective measures.
Highlighting the economic importance of Singareni, he said lakhs of people across several districts depended on it for their livelihood and called it a “golden goose” that must be protected. He pointed out that the state government was taking a loan of Rs. 500 crore using Singareni as collateral and added that the Singareni was a golden goose for the Telangana government. Besides, they are also unable to spend the DMF (District Mineral Foundation) funds, he remarked. He promised that the BJP, if voted to power in the state, would strengthen infrastructure, increase central institutions in mining regions and reform District Mineral Foundation guidelines.
