Hyderabad, Feb.10 (RAHNUMA): The state government has decided to submit proposals to the central government for the allocation of funds aimed at the construction of 642 kilometers of roads in 227 habitations across Telangana that currently lack adequate road connectivity. This initiative is part of the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
On Tuesday, a meeting of the State Level Standing Committee convened at the secretariat to discuss the proposals for the approval of the fourth phase of PMGSY.
Chairing the meeting was Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, who was accompanied by Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, and senior officials from the relevant departments.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary remarked that construction projects for roads and bridges sanctioned in the previous three phases under PMGSY have been completed to date. He emphasised the necessity for submitting proposals for the development of 642.23 kilometers of roads in 227 settlements within Telangana that presently lack appropriate road access as part of the fourth phase of the initiative.
It is important to note that 148 kilometers of this proposed work requires approval from the Forest department across 34 projects, and Principal Secretary Sridhar indicated that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the bridge constructions along these routes will be finalised within a week.
