Iranian Consul General His Excellency Mr. Hamid Ahmadiyeh addressing the gathering at the Trident Hotel, Hitec City, Hyderabad.

The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hyderabad celebrated the 47th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran on Saturday, 07 February 2026 at the Trident Hotel, Hitec City, Hyderabad. On this occasion, an exhibition of Iranian handicrafts and carpets, including hand-woven silk carpets, was also organised, reflecting Iran’s rich artistic and cultural heritage. The event was graced by the presence of Honourable Consul Generals and Honorary Consuls General, distinguished diplomats, Vice Chancellors and Directors of universities, esteemed faculty members of renowned academic institutions, scholars, senior bureaucrats, respected members of the media, Ullemas, and members of the Iranian community in Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, it was underscored the historical significance of the Revolution as a manifestation of the Iranian nation’s will to achieve independence, dignity, and national sovereignty. The Revolution of 1979 marked not merely a change in political authority, but the beginning of a new era founded on people’s participation, freedom, justice, and resistance to domination.

Despite persistent regional and international challenges over the past decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran has continued on this principled path with determination. By relying on domestic capabilities, social cohesion, and its skilled human resources, Iran has achieved notable progress in science and technology, economic development, production, and social and infrastructural advancement.

The deep-rooted civilizational ties between Iran and India were also highlighted. The relationship between the two countries spans thousands of years, with particularly strong historical and cultural links to the Deccan and Hyderabad. The Iranian influence during the Qutb Shahi period, when Hyderabad was referred to as “New Isfahan,” and architectural landmarks such as the Charminar stand as enduring symbols of this shared heritage. In recent years, cooperation in areas such as the International North–South Transport Corridor and regional security has further strengthened bilateral relations, despite prevailing geopolitical challenges.

Addressing recent developments, it was noted that the past year has been particularly difficult for the Iranian people. Despite maximum pressure and coercive policies by the United States, Iran entered negotiations in good faith regarding its peaceful nuclear programme. However, following five rounds of talks and agreement to a sixth, a military attack against Iran was carried out by the Zionist regime with the participation of the United States.

Reference was also made to internal disturbances that began on 28 December over economic concerns, which were subsequently infiltrated by terrorist elements supported by the Zionist regime and certain Western countries, transforming peaceful protests into violent unrest. During these incidents, several law-enforcement personnel and innocent civilians were martyred or injured. The high number of injured police officers reflected both the restraint exercised by law-enforcement agencies and the level of violence employed by terrorist groups.

The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirmed its commitment to the human rights of its citizens and to the right to peaceful assembly, as enshrined in Article 27 of the Constitution, while emphasising its responsibility to protect public order, national security, and to confront terrorism. It was regretted that certain Western governments and media outlets, applying double standards, misrepresented Iran’s counter-terrorism measures as suppression of peaceful protests.

The vigilance and responsibility of the Iranian people were underscored, particularly their massive and unprecedented rally on 12 January, which demonstrated national unity and support for the Islamic Republic and successfully thwarted destabilisation efforts.

It was reiterated that Iran continues to face coordinated military, political, and media campaigns by the United States and the Zionist regime. Nevertheless, the Islamic Republic of Iran remains resolute in defending its sovereignty and national security, while remaining committed to diplomacy as the preferred path to safeguard national interests and promote regional peace and stability. It was emphasised that meaningful negotiations must be based on mutual respect for sovereignty and interests, and cannot succeed under threats, pressure, or demands for unilateral and illegitimate concessions.
