(RAHNUMA) New Delhi: The President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, was in New Delhi on Tuesday where he hosted a ceremonial reception and dinner to mark the 108th Independence Day of Estonia, drawing senior Indian officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests to the capital.

The event, held at Hotel Le Méridien, was hosted by President Karis along with Marje Luup, Ambassador of Estonia to India. Kirti Vardhan Singh, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, attended as the Chief Guest. The gathering highlighted the steady growth of diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between Estonia and India.

Among those invited to the reception was Nawab Mir Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of H.E.H. the VII Nizam of Hyderabad, who was present alongside other prominent figures from diplomatic and social circles to mark Estonia’s national day.

The New Delhi reception formed part of President Karis’s official visit to India, which also included his participation in the AI Impact Summit 2026, where he emphasized the importance of responsible, equitable, and education-focused approaches to artificial intelligence. The visit underlined Estonia’s expanding engagement with India, particularly in the fields of technology, governance, and international cooperation.

Earlier this month, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates for the World Governments Summit, President Karis also attended a reception at the Estonian Embassy in Abu Dhabi to commemorate Estonia’s Independence Day, reflecting the international scope of the anniversary celebrations.
