Youth participation key to achieving sustainable development goals: Konda

Hyderabad, Feb.23 (RAHNUMA): The closing ceremonies of the International Youth Biodiversity Conference-2026, organised with the aim of biodiversity conservation and youth empowerment in the state of

Telangana, were held with great pomp.

The three-day conference, organised under the auspices of the Telangana Biodiversity Board, was attended by youth, environmental scientists, researchers, policymakers, and representatives of voluntary organisations from across the country and abroad.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Minister for Forests, Environment and Endowments, Konda Surekha.

Speaking on the occasion, Konda Surekha said the role of youth is crucial in the conservation of biodiversity, ecological balance and the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The Minister said the conference had conducted technical seminars and discussions on topics such as biodiversity conservation, eco-friendly lifestyle (Life for the Environment), and youth skill development. She said the state government is promoting innovations and research related to nature conservation, in addition to promoting environmental awareness among the youth.

The Minister said the initiatives taken by the Telangana government in the field of biodiversity conservation are standing tall on the international stage. She called upon the youth to come forward towards preserving the natural wealth for future generations.

Noted author, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Center Co-Founder and CEO Srujan Pal Singh, as well as Telangana State Biodiversity Council Member Secretary Kalicharan participated in the programme.
