(RAHNUMA) Najaf: Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani, the highest Shia religious authority based in Najaf, has issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the reported killing of Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In his official message, Ayatollah Al-Sistani extended condolences to the Iranian nation and the wider Muslim world, describing Ayatollah Khamenei as a leader of high stature whose role in guiding the Islamic Republic over many years was evident to all.

He stated that the enemies, through what he termed assassination and extensive military aggression against Iran, sought to inflict serious harm on the country. Emphasizing the gravity of the moment, Ayatollah Al-Sistani urged the Iranian people to preserve unity, strengthen their ranks, and not allow adversaries to achieve their objectives.

The Najaf-based Marja concluded his message with prayers for the departed leader, asking Almighty Allah to grant him elevated ranks and divine mercy, and to bestow patience and reward upon those mourning his loss.

The statement has drawn widespread attention across the Shia world, reflecting the significance of the moment and the call for restraint and cohesion during a period of heightened regional tension.
