33 engineering colleges allowed to charge more than ₹1 lakh as fee

Hyderabad, March 6 (RAHNUMA): The state Government has issued orders enhancing the fixing the fee in various engineering colleges . A total 33 engineering colleges in the state have more than Rs. 1 lakh as fee and a total of two engineering colleges have ₹1 lakh as fee .The state education department issued a GO (6) on Thursday, confirming the new tuition fees for a total of 160 engineering colleges in the state . These fees will be applicable for the 2025-28 block period. In the last block period, the number of colleges, whose fees exceeded Rs. 1 lakh was 33. It is noteworthy that this time also , the number is the same . The number of the colleges with Rs. 1 lakh fee was 7 at that time but the number has been reduced to 2 now.

The highest fee for CBIT has been set at Rs. 1.83 lakh. Vasavi College stood second with Rs. 1.75 lakh fee . The Telangana Admissions and Fees Control Committee (TASRC) has recommended to the state government to reduce the existing tuition fees for 19 colleges and not increase even a single rupee for 70 engineering colleges. While the minimum fee is Rs. 45 thousand , it has been the finalized for 21 colleges.

The newly decided fees will come into effect from the current academic year (2025-26). These fees will be applicable to those, who join B.Tech first-tier in the academic years 2025-26, 2026-27, 2027-28. Those students will have to pay the same fees for four years.
