Hyderabad, March 7 (RAHNUMA): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reiterated that the State government is dedicated to establishing Telangana as the leading state for the protection and empowerment of women across the nation.
During the launch of the “Stand with Her” campaign—an initiative encouraging men to advocate for women’s rights—the Chief Minister urged each young person to serve as a brand ambassador for women’s protection within the state. “Women should not be relegated to domestic roles; the government aspires for women to thrive in all areas. We must cultivate a philosophy that supports women in the face of gender discrimination and safeguards their rights.”
The Chief Minister voiced grave concerns regarding the rising incidence of cybercrime targeting women in recent times. The proliferation of social media has contributed to an increase in such offenses. “We must unite and advocate for women’s protection. Merely enacting laws and enhancing police oversight is insufficient. The safeguarding of women can only be achieved when we collectively assume it as a societal obligation,” he emphasised, asserting the necessity for every woman to receive the same respect in society as that afforded to our family members.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the Congress contribution for women empowerment in politics and women leaders got the opportunity to become President, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker and Chief Ministers of many states.
Stating that the People’s government has always been at the forefront in recognising the importance of women and delegating responsibilities, the Chief Minister said that a slew of women empowerment schemes were already launched. Ration cards and Indiramma houses were being provided in the name of women. Loans have been provided to self-help groups and a shop complex has been allotted to them at Shilparamam, he said.
Further, the Chief Minister said the government took steps to encourage solar power generation and make women compete with Adani and Ambani companies in the future. In addition to providing free travel facilities for women on RTC, women groups were encouraged as the owners of 1000 RTC buses and also established petrol pumps to women economically strong. Women’s University has already been named after Veera nari Chakali Ilamma to display the fighting spirit of women, he added.
