Hyderabad, March 14 (RAHNUMA): Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana staged a protest and burnt an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in front of the party’s state office here on Saturday.
Led by state president N. Ramchander Rao, the BJP leaders alleged that the Congress MPs violated parliamentary norms and disrespected democratic institutions by staging protests on the stairs of Parliament.
Addressing the media, Rao said the entrance of Parliament is governed by strict rules and accused Congress leaders of treating the steps like a “picnic spot” by sitting there drinking tea and eating biscuits.
He termed the act an insult to the “temple of democracy” and criticised Congress MPs for protesting outside instead of debating issues inside the House. He accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about LPG shortages despite explanations provided by the Union ministers.
