KTR calls for vigilance, urges cadre to protect every vote during SIR

Hyderabad, April 16 (RAHNUMA): Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao has called upon party cadres to remain vigilant and prevent any irregularities by the Congress and BJP during the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Telangana.

Addressing party leaders and cadre through a teleconference on Thursday, KTR emphasised that every single vote must be protected at the booth level.

He cautioned that there is a strong possibility of the ruling Congress and the BJP misusing their power to register bogus votes and manipulate the voter list.

KTR pointed out that serious allegations have emerged across the country where, under the guise of electoral roll revision by the Election Commission, lakhs of opposition votes were reportedly deleted in several states by the BJP.

He also reminded party members of the recent Jubilee Hills by-election and municipal elections, where the Congress allegedly benefitted by adding bogus votes into the voter list.

Highlighting the risks, KTR stated that both the Congress and BJP may attempt to misuse the SIR exercise in Telangana as well, and urged party workers to be extremely cautious. He stressed that BRS cadres must not only safeguard their own votes but also ensure that no fake or ineligible voters are added to the rolls.

Explaining the importance of the SIR process, KT Rama Rao said the exercise is meant to correct errors in the voter list and facilitate the registration of new voters.

He urged party workers to utilise this opportunity effectively to identify and remove bogus voters on a booth-by-booth basis.
