Karimnagar, May 3 (RAHNUMA): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday stated that miscreants barged into the PMJ Jewelery shop in Karimnagar under the pretext of purchasing gold and subsequently opened fire. “This is an unexpected incident. Just minutes before this event occurred, I had participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for various development works in this very area. The Police personnel were also present. Immediately upon receiving the information about the incident, the police began combing through Karimnagar. I am confident that they will definitely apprehend the culprits,” he said while speaking to media persons.
Upon learning of the shooting incident involving the miscreants targeting the staff at the PMJ Jewelery shop in Jyothinagar of Karimnagar, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar rushed to the site accompanied by City Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, local Corporator Boinipally Praveen Kumar and others.
He examined the CCTV footage from the jewelery shop and questioned the staff regarding the shooting incident? He sought details to understand exactly what had transpired during the incident? Subsequently, he spoke with the Police Commissioner and the local police force. Later, while addressing the media, he stated it was an unexpected incident and a truly unfortunate occurrence. He said that Based on the CCTV footage and the details provided by the staff, it appears that a total of five miscreants entered the jewelry shop with the intention of committing the robbery and opened fire. “Initially, one individual entered and asked to see a 20-gram gold chain. Shortly thereafter, two others arrived stating they wished to purchase gold ornaments and asking to view the merchandise. While the gold ornaments were being displayed, two more individuals entered the shop. The miscreants were conversing in both Telugu and Hindi. Acting in unison, the five individuals brandished firearms, intimidated the staff and attempted to steal the jewelry.
They opened fire on the shop’s Sales Manager and other staff members, who attempted to intervene. The staff members displayed immense courage and bravery in resisting the attackers. It was during this struggle that they sustained injuries. Doctors have currently stated that the victims were out of danger. Nevertheless, we are shifting the victims to Hyderabad to ensure they receive advanced medical treatment,” Sanjay said.
He said that he was confident that the miscreants would be apprehended and added that the officials were currently scrutinizing the CCTV footage, specifically reviewing the visuals captured by the Command Control Room cameras. “A ‘Clues Team’ has arrived at the scene, and statements were recorded from the victims. It appears evident that the individuals forcibly entered the shop with the sole intention of committing the robbery. As the staff intervened, they abandoned one bag right there. The exact quantity of the gold and other jewelry stolen will be determined during the police investigation,” he said.
