AUSTRALIA – INDIA TIES DEEPEN AS AIYD 2026 LAUNCHES IN HYD

Hyderabad, May 15 (RAHNUMA): The 14th edition of Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) was officially launched in Hyderabad on Friday, with Australian High Commissioner to India Philip Green describing India as an indispensable partner in shaping the future of the Indo-Pacific region.

Hosted at the Taj Deccan in Banjara Hills here, the launch reception brought together representatives from government, industry, academia, startups, media, innovation and civil society, reflecting the growing strategic and people-to-people partnership between India and Australia.

Addressing the gathering, Philip Green said India’s rapid economic rise and global influence have made it central to Australia’s foreign policy and economic outlook. “India is the fastest-growing large economy in the world and a formidable global force. Today, no nation can imagine shaping the future without engaging with India”, he added.

Further, he noted that the India–Australia relationship is driven by “strategic alignment, economic complementarity, and the human bridge”, adding that both nations increasingly see each other as vital partners in the Indo-Pacific.

The programme will focus on evolving leadership amid technological, industrial, economic and cultural change, covering themes such as Economic & Innovation Systems, Industrial & Resource Systems, Governance & Institutional Systems, and Human & Cultural Systems.

Telangana Special Chief Secretary for IT and Industries Jayesh Ranjan, who attended the event, said Telangana aims to play a major role in India’s long-term economic growth and welcomed deeper Australia–India collaboration in innovation, education and technology.

Meanwhile, AIYD Co-Chair (India) Anthony Vipin Das stressed the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening ties between the two nations. “Treaties and trade agreements set the table; people set the conversation. The human bridges between Australia and India are what truly animate this partnership”, he said.

Organisers said AIYD 2026 aims to create new pathways for collaboration between future leaders of both countries on regional and global challenges.
