Hyderabad, May 30 (RAHNUMA): Leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to express their concerns regarding the State government’s initiative to appoint individuals to the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) on a nomination basis.
A delegation, led by Madhusudhana Chary, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, visited the Governor at Lok Bhavan on Saturday, where they also presented a formal request.
During a subsequent press conference, Madhusudhana Chary accused the State government of secretly planning to appoint individuals to various roles within the PACS, which he claimed violated existing regulations.
He pointed out that the Chairpersons, elected in 2020, held terms set to conclude in 2025, and that the government had improperly extended their terms by six months. Moreover, he alleged that the government was now maneuvering to appoint individuals to positions without conducting necessary elections, favoring certain candidates.
The delegation urged the Governor to prevent the State government from proceeding with any further actions. In response, the Governor assured that regardless of the government’s actions, legal advice would be sought and appropriate measures would be taken, as stated by Madhusudhana Chary.
The BRS leader emphasised, “The State government is breaching regulations. Appointing individuals to PACS without holding elections is not only against the rules but also deeply concerning.”
