
Hyderabad, June 21 (RAHNUMA): Emphasising that yoga is a timeless gift of India to humanity and a powerful instrument for holistic well-being, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the ancient discipline nurtures physical vitality, mental resilience and spiritual balance.
The Governor participated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Lok Bhavan on Sunday. Senior officials, including special chief secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, joint secretary Shashikiran Komandur, deputy secretary G. Pallavi, officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, took part in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor observed that in an age marked by fast-paced lifestyles and mounting stress, yoga offers a pathway to inner peace, self-discipline and positive energy. Describing yoga as a shining symbol of India’s eternal wisdom, he noted that it has today evolved into a global movement promoting health, harmony and human well-being.
Shiv Pratap Shukla lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his pivotal role in securing worldwide recognition for the International Day of Yoga, which has inspired millions across nations to embrace a healthier way of life.
“Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is a celebration of the profound connection between the body, mind and soul. It is India’s ancient heritage that continues to illuminate the world with the message of health, balance and universal well-being,” the Governor said.
Calling upon citizens to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, he urged people to move beyond observing it as an annual event and embrace it as a lifelong practice.
Appreciating the efforts of The Art of Living, the Governor said the organisation has been making remarkable contributions towards building a stress-free, violence-free society and fostering a culture of peace and well-being.
