Hyderabad, July 23 (RAHNUMA): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday inaugurated the 11th All India Police Judo cluster 2026 here at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli.
Addressing the participants, the Union minister said the Centre is promoting sports as a tool for nation-building through initiatives such as “Khelo India” and increased the sports budget to Rs.4,480 crore. He reiterated India’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top five sporting nations by 2047.
Bandi Sanjay further said police sports strengthen national integration, camaraderie and discipline while encouraging greater participation of women personnel. He lauded the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for expanding welfare measures for athletes, including financial assistance, nutrition support and modern training facilities.
The championship, being hosted by the CISF from July 23 to 30, has drawn over 1,600 athletes from 36 State Police and CAPF organisations, competing in Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo, Karata and Pencak Silat.
CISF ADG (South) Padmakar S. Ransiphe, NISA Director and IG Harpreet Kaur Sohi, S.R. Saravanan, ADG, and PIB ADG, Shruti Patil and others were present at the event.
