New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Incubation centres can play a pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurs, commercialising research and strengthening collaboration between academia, industry and investors, thereby creating long-term economic value, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri said on Sunday.
Speaking at the inauguration of West Bengal’s first Atal Incubation Centre under the Atal Innovation Mission at Techno India University in Kolkata, he expressed confidence that the facility would unlock the entrepreneurial potential of the state’s youth and help build a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
“Incubation centres provide an enabling environment for startups by supporting entrepreneurs, facilitating the commercialisation of research and fostering stronger partnerships between educational institutions, industry and investors,” he said.
Later, addressing the Annual Convocation of Techno India University, Lahiri congratulated graduating students and urged them to combine technical competence with integrity, discipline and sound judgement as they embark on their professional journeys.
“India’s future would be shaped by the dedication, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of its young professionals,” Lahiri said adding that the newly launched Atal Incubation Centre would further strengthen the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in West Bengal.
“The Atal Incubation Centre would help unlock the entrepreneurial potential of West Bengal’s youth and contribute to building a vibrant innovation ecosystem in the State,” he mentioned.
During his visit, Lahiri also addressed eminent intellectuals and distinguished personalities at The Bengal Club on the theme, “Resurgence of Bengal in the Context of Viksit Bharat.”
He observed that the vision of Viksit Bharat could only be realised through the development of individual states and recalled West Bengal’s rich legacy in industry, education and innovation.
He emphasised the need to build on these strengths by strengthening human capital, physical infrastructure, industrial development and institutional capacity to unlock the state’s full growth potential and contribute meaningfully to India’s development by 2047.
