Hyderabad, Aug.28 (RAHNUMA): Flats in Indiramma housing units being constructed under the CURE (Core Urban Region Economy) region are being allotted to beneficiaries through a lottery system.
As part of the first phase, the Telangana government is alloting 7,350 Indiramma houses to eligible beneficiaries. Lucky draws have already been conducted in the Quthbullapur, Cantonment, Rajendranagar and Nampally Assembly constituencies.
Participating in the lucky draw held in the Nampally constituency on Friday, Housing and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government was committed to providing houses to all eligible poor beneficiaries in a fair and transparent manner.
He said the government would construct houses even on land worth hundreds of crores of rupees, describing the initiative as a symbol of the self-respect and dignity of the poor.
The Minister said houses in the first phase were allotted to all eligible beneficiaries without discrimination based on caste, religion or political affiliation. He added that the list of beneficiaries for the second phase would be released within 10 days.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said land had been acquired in 16 Assembly constituencies and the tender process had been completed. Construction of housing towers would begin within two to three days, he said.
He clarified that no registration charges would be collected from beneficiaries and said they would be entitled to sell their houses after 10 years.
The Minister also announced that beneficiaries would be allowed to mortgage their houses after completing the registration process.
