Hyderabad, Sept.6 (RAHNUMA): The Congress party on Sunday organised a massive protest demanding the resignation of former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), alleging that he had failed to attend the Legislative Assembly despite continuing to hold the post of Leader of the Opposition.
A large number of Congress leaders and workers participated in the protest meeting held at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad.
Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Mohammed Azharuddin and Vivek Venkataswamy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Government Advisor V. Hanumantha Rao, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, MLAs and senior party leaders and workers attended the programme.
Congress leaders alleged that KCR had no moral right to continue as Leader of the Opposition as he had failed to discharge the responsibilities associated with the post.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sridhar Babu demanded KCR’s resignation, alleging that he had failed to perform his role as Leader of the Opposition. He also accused the BRS of spreading “false propaganda” against the Praja Palana (people’s government).
Sridhar Babu said the Congress government had introduced several welfare schemes for the poor and asserted that the BRS would not return to power for another 10 years.
He alleged that not a single ration card had been issued during the previous government’s 10-year tenure, while the present government was issuing ration cards to all eligible beneficiaries.
Speaking at the protest, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud challenged BRS leaders to a debate comparing the performance of the Congress government during its first 1,000 days with the 10-year rule of the previous BRS government.
