
Hyderabad, Sept.10 (RAHNUMA): Food Safety Officers of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) found multiple violations during a special enforcement drive covering 46 food establishments across districts outside the Core Urban Region.
The inspections covered restaurants, bakeries, dhabas, hotels, sweet shops and hostels. Officials found instances of spoiled meat and vegetables, cockroach, housefly and rodent infestation, unhygienic premises, poor record maintenance and improper food storage.
Refrigerators at some establishments were found to be unclean, with inadequate segregation and labelling of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Expired food products and items affected by pests were also found and discarded on the spot.
Officials collected 22 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. Improvement notices will be issued to 23 establishments, which will be reinspected to verify compliance.
TG SAFE has also decided to suspend the FSSAI licences of three establishments and direct them to stop operations immediately in the interest of public health. Mahendra Meals, Biryani and Curry Point at Station Ghanpur; Sri Balaji Magic Mithai at Baopet, Karimnagar; and Cha Cha Family Dabha on NH-65 at Tupranpet, Choutuppal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
The authority said further action would be taken based on inspection and laboratory findings, and photographs and videos of the enforcement drive have been forwarded for publication.
