EVERY LANGUAGE HAS ITS OWN SIGNIFICANCE: TPCC CHIEF MAHESH GOUD

Hyderabad, Sept.12 (RAHNUMA): TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday stressed the need to respect and promote all Indian languages, saying the country’s linguistic diversity was one of its greatest strengths.

Addressing a Hindi Diwas programme at the Hyderabad Press Club, Mahesh Kumar Goud said India was a unique confluence of diverse languages, cultures and traditions. Quoting the popular saying, “Desha bhashalandu Telugu lessa”, he said every language had its own historical and cultural significance and deserved equal respect.

He said Hindi Diwas, observed on September 14, had been a long-standing tradition, while stressing that the development of Hindi should go hand in hand with the promotion and preservation of regional languages.

“In Telangana, equal importance is being given to Urdu along with Telugu”, he said, assuring that he would make efforts to further strengthen the Linguistic department to protect and promote the State’s linguistic heritage.

Mahesh Kumar Goud also noted the centuries-old social, commercial and cultural ties of people from Gujarat and Rajasthan with Telangana. Diverse languages and cultures, he said, were not a source of division but a reflection of India’s unity in diversity.

State Government Advisor Hanumantha Rao, SAICIRASI Secretary Sachin Sawant and Farmers’ Commission Chairman M. Kodanda Reddy were among those present.
