Hyderabad: In a significant demonstration of “Gandhi Giri” and peaceful public action, Congress Party In-charge, Karwan Constituency, Shri Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri, along with his team and local residents, personally initiated cleaning and restoration work at a Government Community Hall that had remained forcibly closed for nearly ten years.

The Community Hall was constructed specifically for the benefit of poor and underprivileged families. However, despite being a public facility intended to serve the local community, it had remained closed for several years, allegedly due to pressure and intimidation by certain anti-social elements.

Shri Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri stated that, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana Government is working for the development and welfare of people without discrimination. He said that he had represented the matter to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC President Shri Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLC, and In-charge Minister Shri Ponnam Prabhakar, seeking immediate steps to reopen the Community Hall, which had remained closed for nearly ten years, and restore it for the benefit of poor and local residents.

Responding positively to the representation, TPCC President Shri Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLC, and In-charge Minister Shri Ponnam Prabhakar directed the Karwan Constituency In-charge to take all necessary steps to ensure that the Community Hall is restored and made available for the benefit of poor and underprivileged residents.

Acting on these directions, Shri Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri today led the Congress Party team and local residents in a peaceful “Gandhi Giri” initiative. Avoiding any form of confrontation or provocation and following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi—peace, non-violence and constructive action—he personally came forward and joined his team and local residents in cleaning the premises and initiating the process of restoring the Community Hall for public use.

The initiative was supported by Senior Leaders Shri Parmanandam Ji, Jagdamba Temple Committee Chairman Shri Chanti Babu, Shri Akula Chandra Shekhar Ji, MRPS Leader Shri V. Raju, Shri Mahindra, Guddi Malkapur Division President Shri Durga Prasad, Karwan Constituency Congress Minority Department Chairman Shri Salam Bin Al Al Hajri, Khairatabad DCC Secretary Shri V. Lakshman, and Langar House Division President Shri Santosh Goud, along with a large number of local residents.

The peaceful “Gandhi Giri” initiative sent a clear message that intimidation, pressure and unlawful obstruction cannot be allowed to deprive ordinary citizens of public welfare facilities indefinitely. The initiative also restored confidence among local residents who had been deprived of the Community Hall for almost a decade.

Local residents expressed their happiness, relief and gratitude towards Shri Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri. Several residents warmly embraced him and thanked him for taking a bold yet peaceful initiative to restore the facility for the benefit of poor and needy families.

During the programme, GHMC Assistant Engineer Shri Venkatesh inspected the Community Hall and assessed the requirements for its restoration. An estimate is being prepared for essential works, including doors and windows, wall painting, electrical works, borewell facilities and other necessary repairs and infrastructure.

The GHMC authorities will prepare a detailed report and estimate, following which efforts will be made to complete the required works through the Special Funds of the Hon’ble Minister. After completion of the restoration works, the Community Hall will be formally inaugurated and made available once again for the benefit of poor and underprivileged families.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri said that public facilities constructed with public funds for the welfare of poor people must not be allowed to remain locked or inaccessible for years. He emphasised that the objective of the “Gandhi Giri” initiative was not confrontation or conflict, but to peacefully restore the people’s facility and ensure that it is utilised for the purpose for which it was constructed.

He further stated that the era of fear, intimidation and obstruction of public welfare facilities must come to an end, and that the rights and welfare of ordinary citizens would be protected through peaceful, democratic and lawful means.
