Author: Muhammad Hassan WazirThu, 2017-03-23ID: 1490218590554278100Today, we are celebrating the 77th National Day of Pakistan with zeal and fervor both inside and outside the country. On this auspicious occasion, I convey my sincere felicitations to our community living in Saudi Arabia and around the world. March 23, 1940, was a landmark day in the history of our country. On this momentous day, the All-India Muslim League, at its annual gathering in Lahore, adopted a resolution that called for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent where they could lead their lives with dignity according to their aspirations. The Muslims of the subcontinent were able to achieve an independent country within just seven years after the passage of the Lahore Resolution. All this became possible under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Today, by the grace of Allah, Pakistan stands tall in the comity of nations and is making steady progress in all walks of life. Home to more than 190 million people, Pakistan is a functional democracy with an active Parliament, strong institutions, an independent judiciary, and a vibrant civil society. Our country has been through many challenges over the past 70 years, but with strong support and resilience of our people, Pakistan has been put on an upward and irreversible trajectory of progress. On the economic front, Pakistan has recently achieved many successes, including an increasing economic growth rate and per capita income, bulging foreign exchange reserves and stock market indices, and declining inflation. Work on the ambitious China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project is smoothly under way. This huge project will prove to be a game-changer for the country. Relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are fraternal and based on commonality of history, culture and religion. Saudi Arabia has always supported Pakistan during difficult times and Pakistan considers the security of Saudi Arabia as its own security. I also offer my sincere thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the government and the people of Saudi Arabia for hosting more than 2.6 million Pakistanis in the Kingdom. The Pakistani community is contributing positively toward the economic development of Saudi Arabia as well as Pakistan. We appreciate their contribution in strengthening the ties. While the Embassy of Pakistan continues to look after the wellbeing of our people in the Kingdom, we also stress that Pakistan nationals remain as ever law-abiding citizens and play their due role in the progress and prosperity of Saud Arabia.Long live Pakistan-Saudi friendship.
