Vijayawada, Oct.2 (NSS): Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Hon. President of TB Association of Andhra Pradesh S. Abdul Nazeer inaugurated the 75th TB Seal sale campaign at a programme held in Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Abdul Nazeer said TB continues to be a killer disease and the spread of TB has become a cause for concern even in the developed countries and that India has a burden of almost one fourth of the global TB Cases. He said Andhra Pradesh achieved a success rate of 91% in the recovery of patients from TB and appreciated the exemplary efforts of the agencies involved in providing the diagnosed patients with appropriate care and support in accordance with the Govt. of India’s ‘End TB Strategy’ programme.
The Governor appealed to the people to contribute generously to the TB Seal Sale Campaign and join hands in the efforts to eradicate Tuberculosis in the country by 2025. A cheque for Rs 5.01 lakh was handed over to the Governor by representatives of AMG International towards contribution to TB Seal sale. Dr M. Hari Jawaharlal, Secretary to Governor, Dr P.S. Sarma, Patron, Dr P. Jayakar Babu, Hon. General Secretary of TB Association of Andhra Pradesh, Dr T. Ramesh, Joint Director (TB) & State TB Control Officer, and other dignitaries attended the programme.
