Hyderabad, Jan.10 (RAHNUMA): Telangana State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Saturday called upon members of the party’s Legal Cell to fight for justice and safeguard the Constitutional rights of citizens.
Addressing a meeting of the BJP Legal Cell at the state party office, Rao alleged that the Congress-led state government was attempting to manipulate voter lists in several areas, particularly in Hyderabad, to benefit a specific group. He claimed that the voter numbers were being artificially inflated to ensure more seats for the AIMIM.
Rao further said the BJP Legal Cell had already approached the High Court highlighting public objections over GHMC ward delimitation and asserted that the legal fight must continue against injustices in municipalities and alleged irregularities in voter lists.
Accusing the Congress and BRS of relying on money power and communal politics, Rao urged the Legal Cell members to remain committed to public service and expose ‘political conspiracies’.
He claimed that the people have unwavering faith in the Indian judiciary, which is why they approach courts for justice, but alleged that the Congress party was attempting to defame the judiciary and constitutional independent bodies, including the Election Commission, through baseless allegations.
Clarifying on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Rao said it was a continuous process undertaken by the Election Commission to purify electoral rolls. He explained that SIR involved the removal of bogus voters, addition of eligible new voters, and deletion of names of deceased and duplicate voters.
