Afshan’s love affair with fashion began in 1992 when she completed her design course. Her commitment was evident as she attended college just a day before giving birth to her baby. Despite taking a brief hiatus, Afshan’s passion for fashion never waned. She rejoined her course with unwavering determination, graduating with top honors in two consecutive batches. Her exceptional talent was so prominent that her college retained her record books as exemplary samples for future students.
A pivotal moment in Afshan’s early career came during an annual exhibition hosted by her college. Displaying immense creativity and hard work, she crafted 15 exquisite dresses single-handedly. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 11 dresses sold swiftly to eager customers. This event marked the beginning of her incredible journey in fashion.
Leveraging her husband’s green card status, Afshan expanded her horizons by exporting her unique designs to the United States. She also took on freelancing projects with Kalanjali, broadening her experience and reach. What began as a modest home workshop with six tailors soon blossomed into a thriving enterprise due to the increasing demand for her creations.
In 1997, Afshan made a significant leap by opening her own boutique, Pahnava, on the prestigious Banjara Hills main road. During an era with few designers in the industry, her boutique quickly gained immense popularity. For 15 successful years, Pahnava became synonymous with Afshan’s exquisite designs, cementing her reputation in the fashion world.
Driven by a desire for greater achievements, Afshan made a strategic move in 2012 by merging with Kashish, a leading brand in the industry, as a working partner. This partnership elevated her career to new heights, fulfilling her dreams of name, fame, financial success, and the love and respect of her peers.
Most recently, Afshan launched her stunning heritage collection, “Buniyaad.” Inspired by the intricate designs of the Charminar and the Seven Tombs, this bridal collection was met with resounding success, further establishing her as a trailblazer in the fashion industry.
