Hyderabad, Oct.7 (NSS): Telangana BJP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy today condemned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s letter criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on loan waiver. He said the CM’s letter was far from the facts.
Maheshwar Reddy alleged that he had written a false letter to the Prime Minister to benefit the Congress party in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Reddy has written an open letter challenging CM Revanth to finalise the venue and said he was ready for an open debate on the issue. Reddy wrote an open letter to the CM on the issue.
“Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday on the issue of the farm loan waiver for farmers in Telangana is a cover of some facts. Isn’t it true that Revanth Reddy as PCC chief in Telangana assembly election campaign promised to waive the crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh to all farmers on December 9, 2023, if the Congress party comes to power? However, the farmers’ anger against the Congress government has increased as the crop loan waiver has not been implemented even after six months of coming to power. During the Lok Sabha election campaign in May 2024, he swore to all the gods and promised to waive off the crop loans by August 15, 2024. By August 15, you have waived off crop loans to only half of the farmers. Is it not true that the remaining half of the crop loans have not been waived off,” he said.
Reddy claimed that Prime Minister Modi spoke about the same in a public meeting held in Maharashtra on October 5. “The Prime Minister explained the facts that the loan waiver had not been fully implemented as promised by the Congress government in Telangana and the rice donors are waiting for the waiver. The administration told the CM that Prime Minister Modi’s comments will affect the farmers of Maharashtra and thereby damage the Congress victory in the assembly elections in that State.
The CM wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi telling lies about the loan waiver on their orders. Is it not cheating not only the people of Telangana, but also the people of the country by saying that they have waived it? he asked.
