
Hyderabad, Dec.10 (RAHNUMA): The State Election Commission (SEC) has completed all arrangements for the first phase of Sarpanch elections, scheduled for Thursday, SEC Commissioner Rani Kumudini announced in Hyderabad.
Speaking to the media, the commissioner said polling would be held from 7 am to 1 pm, followed by immediate counting of votes. Elections for Upa Sarpanch posts would also be conducted on the same day.
Polling will take place in 3,834 villages and 27,628 wards. Kumudini revealed that Rs.8.2 crore had been seized by police across the state during enforcement checks. Check-posts have been set up on state borders to curb violations.
She added that unanimous elections had already been recorded in 395 villages in the first phase and 495 in the second phase.
