Andhra CM Chandrababu’s son Nara Lokesh takes oath as MLC, ministership mere formality

CM Naidu is set to reshuffle his cabinet on April 2 and Lokesh is assured of a cabinet berth, reports said.
TDP National Secretary Nara Lokesh and son of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took oath as Member of the Legislative Council on Thursday finally paving the way for him to become part of the state cabinet.
According to reports, CM Naidu is set to reshuffle his cabinet on April 2 and eight to 10 new ministers are likely to be included.
Lokesh is assured of a cabinet berth, reports said.
He took oath in the Business Advisory Committee room in the legislature complex while other newly-elected members were sworn in inside the Council hall, reported PTI.
Lokesh was elected unopposed as an MLC under the MLAs quota on March 10 alongside four others from the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

This development comes after the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) bagged all three MLC seats in the recent polls to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council under the Local Authorities Constituencies quota on March 20.
In February, the members of the TDP politburo had proposed Lokesh’s name for an MLC seat in the State Legislative Council under the MLA quota.
Lokesh who has been part of the TDP fold since the 2009 elections, officially joined the party in 2013.
Starting off as the President of the TDP’s youth wing, he quickly rose through the ranks to reach the post of Coordinator, cadre welfare fund.
In September 2015, Naidu promoted his son, making him an ex-officio member of the politburo and the general secretary of the party’s central committee.
