This includes supplying an LPG connection to 1.57 lakh tribal households.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has embarked on a major plan and has asked to ensure that the entire state has 100% LPG coverage by June this year.
The deadline set by the CM was June 2, which would be exactly three years after the state was bifurcated.
In a review meeting with officials of the civil supplies department on Tuesday,  Naidu asked collectors to gather data with regard to the families yet to receive LPG connections.
He asked the collectors to submit the data to the oil companies by April 10.
Stating that West Godavari was 100% LPG connected, he said that the district should serve as an example for the rest of the districts.
Officials told Naidu there were roughly 28 lakh households that were yet to receive a connection.Naidu told the officials to ensure connectivity to 12 lakh homes by the end of April and another 16 lakh connections by the end of May. A review meeting would be held every 10 days.
A press release by the Chief Minister’s office also stated that “Under the Tribal LPG Package, 5 kg LPG refill cylinder will be provided to 1.57 lakh tribal households. This initiative is costing Rs 45 crore.”
The state government said that it wanted to dissuade the tribals from using firewood for cooking and other purposes.
