Hyderabad, Aug.24 (NSS): Hundreds of animal rights activists marched from Sanjeevaiah Park to People’s Plaza on Saturday, demanding freedom for all animals. The march, organized by Vegan India Movement and Vegans of Telangana, urged the public to stop exploiting animals, see them as individuals and stop consuming animal products.
The activists held placards with powerful messages like “Dairy Destroys Motherhood” and “Meat is Murder” alongside slogans like “Animals deserve freedom just like us,” highlighting the cruelty towards animals in various industries like dairy, meat, honey, leather, zoos, and more. They aimed to provide practical solutions to resolve and prevent animal-human conflicts while promoting compassion for all beings.
“Billions of land animals and trillions of sea animals are killed each year. These sentient beings can feel pain and express emotions, their voices are abandoned and demolished by industries that profit from their suffering. The Animal Liberation March is our way of standing up for them — demanding that their cries for mercy be heard. By choosing vegetarianism, we are choosing to listen, to be compassionate and to end speciesism. Together, we can create a world where
every being is respected and free from harm.”, said Suraj, the founder of Vegans of Telangana.
Director Sasi Kiran Tikka, renowned film director and the chief guest of the event added, “Casteism, racism, and many other prejudices inflict suffering on fellow humans. Similarly, our belief that we are superior to animals, to pick and choose which animals have the right to live and which don’t, is causing unimaginable suffering to billions of animals – a form of discrimination called speciesism. Caring about animals and speaking up against animal cruelty is a collective responsibility that belongs to each one of us. We must protect and advocate for a world where all beings are treated with compassion, kindness, and respect”, said Ishant, Founder of SINSME Foundation.
