Annual inspection of NCC Unit at GITAM held

Hyderabad, Sept.20 (NSS): The annual inspection of the NCC Unit at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad took place on Friday, under the supervision of Group Commander Colonel Sunil Abraham, from Headquarters Nizamabad. He was accompanied by Lt. Col. Ramesh Sariyal, Commanding Officer of 33 (T) Bn NCC, Sangareddy, and Lt. Col. P.Madhusudan Rao, Administrative Officer.

During the inspection, Colonel Sunil Abraham praised the cadets for their outstanding performance and emphasized the importance of consistent training to reach higher standards. He highlighted the benefits of NCC as a co-curricular activity, contributing not only to social service but also to nation-building efforts. He informed the cadets that holding an NCC ‘C’ Certificate adds significant value to a student and enhancing job prospects by 30% and offering weightage in government jobs and public sector undertakings (PSUs). Additionally, special entry opportunities are available in the Armed Forces, and the Maharashtra Government grants 5% weightage in police jobs to NCC cadets.

Special recognition was given to several GITAM NCC cadets for their selections in prestigious national and international camps: Senior Under Officer Mahitha Konduri was selected for the Youth Exchange Program-2024-25 and will represent India in Nepal.

Junior Under Officer Abdul Hadi Shariq, Sargent Niketh Sundarasetty, Mahitha Konduri, and Sargent Shikha Singh Rathore were selected for the Service Selection Board (SSB) training program. Cadet S. Rithvika and Cadet K. Keerthi were chosen for the Special National Integration Camp to be held in Lakshadweep and Kakinada, respectively. Cadet Mukul was selected for the Special Integrated Camp in Assam. Cpl Govindu Likitha, Cadet Dharanikota Jishanthika, and Cadet Shourya Kondapalli were selected for the Republic Day Camp-IGC at Nizamabad.

Earlier, Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, along with DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, and S. Ajay Kumar, NCC Caretaker Officer, extended a warm welcome and felicitated Colonel Sunil Abraham for his leadership and contribution.
