Arab League Council Demands United Nations to End Its Mission in Darfur

Cairo, March 08 (QNA) – The Arab League Ministerial Council called on the United Nations to end the its mission to Darfur, citing stabilization of the security and living conditions in the region, and the return of people displaced by the war to their areas.

According to an official decision issued by the Arab League today, the Council also called, at the conclusion of the 147th session chaired by Algeria, on the United States to remove Sudan from its list of terrorist countries, praising at the same time, the US decision to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Khartoum.

The Council stressed support for the development, construction and investment efforts in Sudan, and its support to succeed the Arab-African Conference on Food Security, which to be held during the current year.

Sudan participated in the Ministerial Council meetings with a high-level delegation headed by Minister of State at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry Dr. Obaidullah Mohammed Obaidullah. (QNA)
