
Guntur, June 23 (NSS): Seven-time MLA Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 3rd Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh State today. Ayyanna’s name was announced by pro-tem speaker Butchaiah Chowdary. Ayyanna took over as the new Speaker.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders made him sit in the Speaker’s seat with dignity. YSRCP chief YS Jagan stayed away from the event. Ayyannapatrudu was elected as MLA from Narsipatnam assembly constituency in Anakapalli district. He has more than four decades of political experience. He entered politics in 1983 with the emergence of Telugu Desam Party. Since then, he supported the party in every possible way. Ayyannapatrudu has been an MLA seven times and an MP once.
Ayyannapatrudu, a graduate, also served as a minister for five times so far. He held key portfolios such as technical education, sports, roads, buildings, forest and panchayati raj department. Since 1983, he contested 10 assembly elections and two parliamentary elections. (NSS)
