Babu Jagjivan Ram is a Lifelong Champion of Social Justice: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Karimnagar, April 5 (RAHNUMA):Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday lauded Babu Jagjivan Ram as a towering figure in Indian political history—a leader who fought tirelessly for social justice throughout his life and a true gem of the Dalit community. He noted that Babu Jagjivan Ram, who served as a Union Minister for 29 years, regarded national service as his supreme duty and demonstrated this commitment through his actions.

On the occasion of Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar paid homage to him by garlanding his statue located at Mancherial Crossroads in Karimnagar. The commemorative celebrations held on this occasion were attended by the District Collector Chitra Mishra, Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Satyam, City Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, Deputy Mayor Sunil Rao and several corporators. Subsequently, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar issued a statement to the media.

“Jagjivan Ram was a leader, who confronted and fought against caste discrimination right from his childhood. He was a leader, who dedicated his entire life, until his very last breath, to the welfare of the ‘untouchables.’ One must overcome hardships to rise in life.” “Jagjivan Ram was a leader, who embraced three core slogans,” he stated.

He recalled that Jagjivan Ram, who served as a Member of Parliament continuously from 1952—the year of independent India’s first elections—until his passing in 1986, also served as a Union Minister for 29 years.

He noted that Jagjivan Ram, who stood steadfastly by Gandhi’s side during the nation’s freedom struggle, emerged as a figure without enemies within the Indian political and social spheres. He opined that today’s youth need to take inspiration from the ideals Jagjivan Ram upheld and the path of reform he demonstrated.
