Bandi opposes felling of houses in Musi river bed by Congress govt

Hyderabad, Oct.24 (NSS): Union Minister Bandi Sanjay today said they were strongly opposing  the demolition of houses of the poor by the Congress government in the name of Musi Rejuvenation on behalf of the BJP.

In a statement, he said in the name of this scheme, the Congress party was opening up large-scale corruption and added that the Congress wanted to use the project at a cost of ₹.1.5 lakh crore as an ATM. He said it had become difficult for the government to pay the salaries of the employees and alleged that the State government was wasting public money by paying ₹60,000 crore as interests on ₹6 lakh crores debt took by the previous rulers. He alleged that the State government was completely neglecting the implementation of welfare schemes while focusing on clearing the loan dues of the previous BRS government and added that it was reeling under a severe economic crisis due to lack of money.

“Under these circumstances, it is unfortunate to borrow another Rs 1.5 lakh crore and demolish the houses of the poor in the name of the Musi rejuvenation. Over the last three decades, large amounts of funds have also been spent through other means, including JICA in the name of cleaning up of the Musi River and in the name of the Musi beautification. He alleged that the rulers were spending funds for their selfish interests, but the situation of the Musi river had not changed at all.

“It is sad that while the previous rulers borrowed more than Rs 1 lakh crore and used the Kaleswaram project as an ATM, now the Congress rulers are trying to borrow another Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the name of the Musi Rejuvenation and use it as an ATM. The burden of these debts will be thrown  on the people in the form of various types of taxes.  Already the people of the state are in serious economic difficulties. According to the “All India Rural Financial Inclusion Survey” by NABARD, Telangana is the largest debt-ridden state in the country. On an average, each family in the state has an average debt of Rs 1,29,599, which is Rs 40,000 more than the national average. Nearly 92 per cent of households in the state are in debt. The national average is only 52 per cent of households,” he said, adding that the BJP is not against the ‘Musi beautification,  but opposed to borrowing over Rs 1.5 lakh crore and carrying an unbearable burden on the people in the name of the Musi rejuvenation.

He called upon the party activists to make the mahadharna of BJP State president G Kishan Reddy at Indira Park dharna chowk today  (October 25) on behalf of the Musi victims to protest against the attitude of the Congress government  a success. “We appeal to the Musi victims and people to participate in the mahadharna in a big way,” he said.
