Beware of FedEx, BSNL &TRAI fraud calls!

Hyderabad, Sept.13 (NSS): A 39-year-old female private employee received a direct call from 9271224083. The fraudster informed the victim that her parcel, which was going from Mumbai to Taiwan, had been seized in Mumbai. The parcel allegedly contained five passports, five ATM cards, 4.2 kg of clothes, one laptop, 5000 USD in cash and 200 gram of MDMA. The fraudster provided the victim with a parcel tracking ID: 228932129695.

The fraudster asked the victim to stay online; otherwise, they threatened to come and arrest her. They claimed that a criminal case had been registered against her in relation to money laundering and a drug mafia by the Narcotics Department. The fraudster asked the victim how many bank accounts she maintained and inquired about the balance in her account. Unfortunately, the victim disclosed that her account held Rs 2,17,000. Later, the victim realizing she had been scammed, she filed an online complaint seeking help.

Public Advisory: If a call raises suspicions, individuals should end the call immediately, without engaging further and any fear report near police station. Beware of   FedEx, BSNL and TRAI fraud calls. Scammers can employ psychological tactics to manipulate emotions and decision-making.

Law enforcement officials do not initiate contact through Skype calls and insist money transfer for clearing the issues. Don’t believe them and don’t transfer money. Do not deposit money to the unknown bank accounts believing false promises of unknown persons. Anyone becomes victims of cybercrime fraud, immediately call 1930 or register a case cybercrime.gov.in.
