Hyderabad, Nov.6 (NSS): BJLP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy today made sensational comments on rival Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi. He made it clear that the BJP was not against caste enumeration.
Addressing media persons at the State BJP office here, Aleti demanded that the 21 promises given to the people through BC Declaration be implemented in Telangana. He alleged that the State government was delaying the implementation of the promises in the name of the caste census. Reminding that former CM KCR conducted a comprehensive caste survey during the BRS regime, he asked the State government as to why those details were not being made public. He also asked as to how justice would be done to the BCs through the caste enumeration.
He demanded that 42% reservation for BCs should be implemented. He said out of the 10 ministers, only two BC leaders had been given a chance to become the ministers. He demanded that 42% of the cabinet should be given to BCs. He said in the GHMC elections, 31 minorities won with the BC reservation. He alleged that the BCs were being cheated in the name of the caste enumeration by not lifting the minority reservations in the hands of the government. He demanded that a white paper should be released on how the BCs are benefiting from the caste census.
He said the government should release ₹ 20,000 crore of BC sub-plan funds. “While KCR cheated in the name of a comprehensive survey in the past, the Revanth government was trying to cheat in the name of caste enumeration. Rahul Gandhi had recently visited the State. Does he have the moral right to talk about caste enumeration? Is the Chief Minister ready for an open debate on caste enumeration? He should tell me where he wants to go to participate in it,” said Eleti Maheshwar Reddy.
He asked Rahul Gandhi to tell about his caste and religion and added that Rahul Gandhi’s grandfather’s name was Feroze Jahangir Gandhi while noting that Rahul Gandhi is a Hindu. “Rahul Gandhi must tell whether he is a Hindu or Muslim? The grandson of Feroze Jahangir Gandhi should be known as Rahul Jahangir Gandhi,” he said. He made a key announcement that if the BJP comes to power, these reservations will be removed. He assured that the BJP will definitely do justice to the BCs if it comes to power.
