Nirmal, Aug.23 (NSS):Alleging that the Congress government is deceiving farmers in the name of crop loan waivers, BJLP leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy has demanded the release of a white paper detailing how many farmers have benefited from the scheme so far.
The Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest against the poor implementation of crop loan waiver in front of the RDO office at the district headquarters in Nirmal on Friday. The protest was organised led by BJP leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, who was joined by MP Godam Nagesh, farmers, leaders and party workers.
Speaking on the occasion, he pointed out that while 60 lakh farmers are eligible for loan waivers, only 22 lakh have been granted relief. During the event, the protesters raised slogans against the Congress government and the Chief Minister. Maheshwar Reddy announced that if the State government does not waive loans of up to ₹2 lakh for all farmers by the end of this month, he will begin an indefinite hunger strike at Indira Park in Hyderabad. He also criticised the government for waiving only ₹17,000 crore out of the ₹49,000 crore that was promised.
The BJP leader questioned the credibility of the Chief Minister, who claims full loan waivers, despite Ministers admitting otherwise.
“The Chief Minister’s broken promises have brought bad luck to the State. BJP members will perform rituals in temples across Telangana to remove this curse,” he said.
Maheshwar Reddy, who represents Nirmal Assembly constituency, also condemned the State government’s imposition of conditions like ration cards and Aadhaar cards for farmers to avail of loan waivers, demanding an immediate waiver for all farmers. He vowed to continue fighting for the farmers until the loan waivers are fully implemented.
